Re: NEED VOCABULARY HELP
Sun, May 8, 2005 - 8:26 PM"came into the world"? I hear that sometimes.
The mother gives birth (is the active participant), so you could recast the sentence that way, if you know who the mother is. Or, if not, something like "Steve's mother gave birth to him on ...."
Just a suggestion. I'm new to all this, obviously. -

Re: NEED VOCABULARY HELP
Sat, May 28, 2005 - 12:21 AMFor an easy solution, change from passive to active voice:
Jane bore baby John on December 21.
bore, begat, etc...
Much of the time, one may remove the is/was quite easily by changing to active voice.

Re: NEED VOCABULARY HELP
Fri, May 27, 2005 - 2:24 AMSorry. This one writing, currently experiences trouble with serious self expression. We suggest silly one's like, the stork delieved, or received our first spanking, or emerged, or popped out, made My father's wife a mother. Perhaps we complicate matters rather than assist.
Victor gives apologies.

Re: NEED VOCABULARY HELP
Sun, July 29, 2007 - 11:27 AM"was birthed" ?
Born in which way? As in the birth of a child or as in " She was a born loser", or perhaps as in " Thus the idea was born"?
Sorry, just needed clarification.
